We felt as a growing form of accountants that the issues around office IT networks – updating hardware, linking additional offices, managing email and security, changes with Revenue were areas where we needed guidance and strategy. HWCP are a community organisation who started with 2 staff in a tiny office. We have grown over the years and now have 16 staff and run our own building, letting space to others as tenants and offering meeting rooms and pods for hire.
Clearly what started off as very simple IT requirements have also grown, but we ended up with a system that wasn't fully effective, maintained well or even very secure.
Despite this, there was some resistance to change from our previous IT support, mainly due to cost concerns and also worry that someone else 'may not understand our arrangements'.
